Position


The company has a need for a Controller, who will report to the Chief Financial Officer. This is the second highest financial executive for the business. This executive will have strong technical accounting experience and will direct the timely and accurate preparation of monthly financial statements, operational analyses and reporting needed to effectively manage the business. This will include, but is not limited to general accounting, financial analysis, revenue accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and fixed asset accounting. This leader will be expected to apply sound accounting rigor to the business while recommending strategies to improve financial performance to include technological upgrades and improvements to processing data. It's important that the Controller be familiar with the Percentage of Completion (POC) accounting method used in the construction industry.


Essential Responsibilities


The Assistant Controller has 3 direct reports for AP, AR and Payroll.

The Project Accounting Manager has 3 direct reports (Project Admin/Accountants).

Manage the processing and accounting for all operational transactions and maintain appropriate records to optimize operations.

Prepare monthly financial statements, analyses and other management reporting leading a staff which includes an Assistant Controller and a Project Accounting Manager.

Develop the technical and financial skills of the accounting team.

Effectively manage the team to exceed performance goals (KPI's).

Partner with the CFO and executive management team to support the business by providing timely and meaningful financial data.

Continuously review internal reporting systems, policies and procedures to ensure accurate, smooth and efficient flow of information necessary for timely reporting and analyses.

Establish the necessary controls and standardized procedures that ensure efficient and acceptable audits.

Manage outside relationship with accounting firm and oversee external audits.

Closely monitor and evaluate actual results against plans and budgets.

Qualifications


A minimum of 10 years of accounting experience, preferably in a similar industry, or from public accounting.

Hands-on experience in accounting, internal financial reporting and analysis, budgeting, and cash management.

Capable of implementing technological improvements to optimize how invoices are received/processed and assess other systems and or processes.

Impeccable integrity and company-first approach to the role.

Outstanding ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.

An undergraduate degree in Accounting is required.

A CPA designation and/or graduate degree is preferred.
