We are seeking an Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Engineer who will specialize in Modeling and Simulation of complex technical solutions. What You Will Be Doing This person will join a highly skilled team of systems engineering technologists and algorithm developers supporting various contracts and IRADs within Missiles and Fire Control. Modeling & Simulation Engineer tasks include: • Design and documentation of model and simulation requirements and architecture • Develop, verify, and validate both complex models and simulations such as missile 6-degree-of-freedom simulations (6-DOF) and effects-based simulations • Evaluate system performance in complex scenarios and environments and verify system and subsystem level requirements • Perform critical studies, analyses, and test activities • Support ground and flight test efforts including Hardware-In-The-Loop (HWIL) activities • Support program reviews and technical interchange meetings with internal leadership and/or external customers By bringing together people that use their passion for purposeful innovation, at Lockheed Martin we keep people safe and solve the world's most complex challenges. Basic Qualifications • Must have a BS degree or above in computer science, physics, computer engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, applied mathematics, or similar • Interim clearance is required to start for this position therefore, you must be a US Citizen. • Must have demonstrated at least a foundational level of proficiency in C++ • Must have demonstrated at least an intermediate level of proficiency in Matlab or Python • Must have demonstrated the ability to perform one or more of the following Guidance, Navigation and Control (GNC) or Modeling and Simulation (M&S) assignments based on completed course work or professional experience: o Develop and analyze algorithms such as guidance, navigation, autopilot, inertial tracking, and servo control algorithms o Develop and/or verify/validate complex vehicle models and simulations such as missile 6-degree-of-freedom simulations o Demonstrate strong math skills in the areas of linear algebra, matrix math, statistics, trigonometry, and coordinate transformations. • Willing to work onsite in a classified area or lab environment Desired skills • Experience operating in Linux environments • Experience with Agile development • Ability to perform preflight system performance assessment and post flight verification analyses • Experience deploying algorithms that satisfy real-time performance requirements • Experience with DevOps/DevSecOps CI/CD pipelines and software version control such as Git • Strong written/verbal communication and organizational and interpersonal skills Lockheed Martin is an equal opportunity employer. Ability to work remotely Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. Work Schedule Information Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits. Security Clearance Information This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration. Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $101,000 - $178,135. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
