Director of Environmental Services, the Assistant Director will
coordinate the tasks of the Operations Managers at multiple UT
Southwestern locations. Function: The Assistant Director is
responsible for assisting the Director of Environmental Services in
directing and overseeing the operational needs of the Housekeeping
Department. Scope: UT Southwestern University Hospital Base
Clinics.RESPONSIBILITIES
- Strong Interpretation Skills:Ability to analyze and interpret
complex policies, regulations, and standards related to
environmental services in a healthcare setting. Excellent
communication skills to convey information clearly to staff and
stakeholders.
- Project Management Ability:Proven experience in managing
multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they are completed on
time and within budget. Familiarity with project management tools
and methodologies to facilitate effective planning and
execution.
- Adaptability and Continuous Improvement:Demonstrated ability to
adjust strategies and processes based on feedback and changing
circumstances. Experience in implementing improvement initiatives
within the department, fostering a culture of continuous
improvement. Knowledge of Lean principles and methodologies to
optimize workflows, reduce waste, and enhance efficiency in
housekeeping operations. Ability to lead teams in identifying areas
for improvement and implementing Lean projects to achieve
measurable outcomes.
- Track Record of Improvement:Strong history of successfully
leading improvement projects that enhance service quality, staff
performance, and patient satisfaction. Ability to provide
data-driven insights and reports to demonstrate the impact of
improvement initiatives on department operations.
- Leadership and Team Development:Experience in mentoring and
developing staff, promoting professional growth and engagement
within the team. Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships
with staff, other departments, and external stakeholders.
- Additional Responsibilities:Collaborate with the Department
Director to align departmental goals with organizational
objectives. Facilitate training sessions on Lean practices and
improvement methodologies for staff. Conduct regular assessments of
departmental performance metrics and develop action plans for areas
needing enhancement.This role will cover the 2nd and 3rd shift for
the department.EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONRequired
- Education: Associate's DegreeExperience:
- 5 years in hospital environmental services is required.
- 2 years of management experience is required.PreferredJOB
DUTIES
- Coordinate the task of the Operations Managers
- Establish and review standards and work procedures for all
Housekeeping staff in accordance with established policies and
practices of the facility
- Interview, select, hire, evaluate, and recommend termination of
facility housekeeping personnel in accordance with facility
standards
- Oversee department onboarding program; Orient, train, develop
and supervise all Environmental Service staff
- Review department policies, protocols, and procedures to ensure
they are current
- Create department policies for new equipment or procedures
- Perform regular building inspections, staff audits, and
competencies.
- Conduct regular staff meetings and communicate with members of
other departments to coordinate housekeeping activities
- Assist Department Director with budgets, project coordination
and implementation, etc.
