RESPIRATORY THERAPIST - PART TIME (PRN)

Routinely sets up respiratory equipment and instructs patients,
caregivers, and medical staff on the proper use, cleaning and
preventive maintenance, and basic trouble shooting of respiratory
equipment to ensure the best patient care possible.
On an on-going basis completes progress reports with necessary
billing information and submits the information timely to ensure
proper allocation of payment and receivables.
On a daily basis, and adhering to professional standards, provides
and evaluates the effectiveness of respiratory care, coordinates
respiratory services, and performs respiratory care services in
accordance with client orders. This includes but is not limited to
in-home phone follow ups of respiratory equipment to ensure patient
understanding of use and satisfaction of service.
Responds to emergency calls and new patient orders to deliver
equipment as needed during regular business hours and during
on-call rotation as defined by respective leadership.
Acts as a liaison between patient and healthcare team to resolve
order issues, complications and to make recommendations for
respiratory patient care.
Schedules routine preventative maintenance and/or testing of
respiratory equipment in patient's home to ensure proper operating
condition and trouble shoot malfunctions.
Completes patient files and other necessary paperwork as per
current policy and procedures and as assigned.
Delivers and picks-up of respiratory related equipment and /or
supplies to patients' residence, as necessary.
As needed, provides professional level in-services/trainings to
hospice nurses to support the effective and proper use of
Supports the intake process of respiratory orders as needed.
Participates in improving on existing processes or procedures
related to respiratory orders.
May provide support for the delivery, pick-up and interpretation of
nocturnal oximetry studies.
Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.

Knowledge, Skills & Ablities
Education, Licensure or Certification:
High school diploma or equivalent.
A current state issued driver's license is required.
A current certification or registration with the National Board of
Respiratory Care (NBRC).
A confirmed driving motor vehicle record (MVR) successfully
demonstrating no major violations in the past five consecutive
years, no more than three minor violations or at-fault accidents in
the past 36 consecutive months and no more than one preventable
accident in the past 36 months.
Work Experience or Related Experience:
At least one year experience as a certified or registered
Respiratory Therapist is required.
Experience with home medical care strongly desired.
Specialized Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Strong interpersonal skills and customer service skills are
necessary as is the ability to remain customer service oriented
during situations in which patients or caregivers may be frustrated
Knowledge of the operations of respiratory therapy equipment such
as BiPAP, CPAP, nebulizers, ventilators, suction and oxygen
The knowledge and ability to operate smart devices (e.g., smart
phone, tablets), computers and handheld scanning devices are
The ability to read, write and follow written and oral instructions
is required to ensure that standard operating procedures are
followed to clean and maintain equipment.
The ability to protect and maintain the confidentiality of patient
protected health information and follow standard operating
procedures to ensure compliance with ACHC and HIPAA is
The ability to maintain a flexible schedule to accommodate
afterhours or weekend (i.e. on-call) respiratory patient needs.
Travel Requirements and Conditions
Daily local travel is required to perform delivery and pick up of
equipment as described and may vary by day based on the respiratory
needs of the business.
Work Environment, Conditions and Demands
Environmental conditions will vary based on the location of a
delivery or pick-up, including but not limited to patients' private
homes, hospitals, adult care homes, assisted living facilities and
other healthcare facilities.
Physical Requirements and Demands
Regular and continuous eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity
is required to set up respiratory medical equipment.
Periodically, (approximately 50%-75% of the day) standing, walking,
bending, twisting, grasping, squeezing, kneeling, stooping,
crouching, crawling, reaching, reaching above the shoulder is
required while transporting, setting up, taking apart and moving
respiratory medical equipment as described
