Our benefits are designed to support your overall wellbeing, and include: /n /n - PPO medical plan, available day one at no cost for full-time employee-only coverage /n - 100% coverage for preventive healthcare-no copay /n - Paid Time Off, available day one /n - Retirement Programs through the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) /n - Paid Parental Leave Benefit /n - Wellness programs /n - Tuition Reimbursement /n - Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Qualified Employer /n - Learn more about these and other UTSW employee benefits! /n /n EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION Required /n /n - Education Graduate of an approved/accredited nursing program with an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) /n /n /n /n - Experience Specialty areas may have increased experience requirements as dictated by clinic or standard of care. /n /n /n /n - Licenses and Certifications (RN) REGISTERED NURSE Licensure as Registered Nurse by Board of Nurse Examiners for State of Texas Upon Hire BASIC LIFE SUPPORT Through course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) Upon Hire /n /n Preferred /n /n - Education Bachelor's Degree in Nursing /n /n /n /n - Experience Prefer 5 years working knowledge of Adult Endocrine, AMB or ICU/ER. or Med/surg experience /n - 3 years of Diabetes RN experience preferred /n /n JOB DUTIES /n /n - Delivers nursing interventions to assigned patients that are consistent with stated medical plan of care utilizing the nursing process to assess, implement, and record patients' response in the medical record. /n - Schedules patients' appointments, tests, and procedures via on-line computer system or telephone, and reinforces physician instructions in person and through telephone contact. /n - Provides patient education and documents patient's response in medical record. /n - Ensures appropriate patient consents and authorizations are obtained for research and/or medical treatment. /n - Triages patient phone inquiries according to physician and/or departmental protocols and documents such actions in patients' medical records. /n - Provides working supervision and delegates tasks to licensed vocational nurses, non-licensed medical staff, or office support personnel. /n - Proficiency in electronic medical record documentation. /n - Participates in the recommendation of policy and/or procedural changes according to nursing expertise. /n - Prepares equipment and assists physicians during physical exams and medical procedures. /n - Prepares and administers medications as prescribed by physician. /n - Inspects equipment and facilities visually and physically to ensure patient safety and proper functioning of equipment. /n - Maintains adequate stock of supplies as required for work area. /n - Attends and participates in meetings related to clinical activities. /n - Duties performed may include one or more of the following core functions: (a) Directly interacting with or caring for patients; (b) Directly interacting with or caring for human-subjects research participants; (c) Regularly maintaining, modifying, releasing or similarly affecting patient records (including patient financial records); or (d) Regularly maintaining, modifying, releasing or similarly affecting human-subjects research records. /n - Performs other duties as assigned. /n /n SECURITY AND EEO STATEMENT Security This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code 51.215, which authorizes UT Southwestern to obtain criminal history record information.
